What is the difference between Verbum Cloud, Verbum Libraries, and Verbum Now?

Verbum Cloud is a subscription to books and tools. You get access to a huge collection of books as long as you are subscribed. This book pool will continue to grow and your subscription will improve as we build more features, so you’ll always be up to date.
Verbum Libraries are a one-time purchase. You own whatever library you select, but the books and features are static, so as we get more books and build more features, you pay a la carte if you want them.
Verbum Now is a subscription supplement to Verbum Libraries. It gives library owners access to the growing features of the software without having to wait for a new version to come out. It is not recommended for Verbum Cloud subscribers.

I already own a Verbum Library. Should I get Verbum Cloud?

Verbum Cloud delivers the features available in our Verbum 8 libraries. If you have a Verbum 7 or older base package, Verbum Cloud gives you access to our current features in a convenient subscription model. If you are just looking for the software features, Verbum Now may be a more appropriate option for you.

What if I want to use Verbum resources that are not included in Verbum Cloud?

Any Verbum resources you own, or that you purchase from Verbum.com, will work seamlessly with Verbum Cloud and improve your Verbum Cloud experience.

How do I change my subscription plan?

Can I get a list of resources?

Because the Verbum Cloud libraries will be continually evolving, we will not publish a list of included resources. You can expect to see popular modern, classic and original content in your library. Once you’ve subscribed, you can see all the resources available directly in the software as you browse your library. Start your free month today.

How do I know what resources are part of my Verbum Cloud collection?

In the desktop version of Verbum, you can open your library panel and turn on the “License” column. This will indicate whether each book is owned temporarily or permanently. The temporary licenses are Verbum Cloud titles.

Is Verbum Cloud entirely cloud based?

Our web app, app.verbum.com offers fully cloud-based access. It is comparable to the Verbum desktop software, but we still recommend downloading the desktop software for full functionality.

How much space will Verbum Cloud take up on my computer?

You may be downloading up to 7GB of data. Once installed, Verbum Cloud could use up to 13.5 GB of space on your drive.

How long does installation take?

Download and indexing time will vary according to internet connection speed and hardware configuration. This may take several hours. A high-speed internet connection is strongly recommended. Be sure to allow the library to index. You will not see full search results until the indexing process is complete.

Why do I need to enter my credit card information?

Your subscription is set to auto-renew so you never lose access to Verbum Cloud. We will bill you at the beginning of each new subscription term.

Do I need an internet connection to use Verbum Cloud?

For day-to-day use, Verbum Cloud, doesn't require internet access. Some features require internet access to use (e.g., Media Browser, Visual Copy, Atlas), but most work just fine offline. However, you’ll need to connect to the internet initially to install, and occasionally after installation to get the latest updates and validate that your subscription is still active. If you go offline indefinitely, you won't get updates and your licenses will expire at the end of the subscription period when you were last online.
The Verbum web app, which Verbum Cloud and Verbum Now subscribers get access to, does require internet access to use. There's no offline mode for the web app.

If I get a Verbum Cloud subscription, what happens to books I own/purchase?

You will not lose access to owned content. You have one account with one pool of licensed content. The items you purchase will be permanently owned; the items you subscribe to will be accessible as long as you continue to subscribe (though some items might be removed from the subscription library at the publisher's request). Use a combination of subscription and ownership to build the perfect library for you.
